Bill and I are ready to host another workshop.

Sharpening seems to be a popular topic so who's ready to dig in and learn to get all your tools razor sharp?

June 9 at Bill's shop in Liberty.

there will be a $10 shop fee plus the usual $5 pizza lunch.

These are the first to sign up. If you can't make it for any reason please let us know so we can make room for someone else.

I'd be interested, depending on the date. The shop fees is fine as well.

Sharpening is something few of us have mastered. I would surely be interested. Could we talk a little about saw blades, jointer knives, planer blades, and router bits? Judging when they need it and what , If anything, we should try ourselves.
Having been to a couple acts of the Bill and Mike show, I think $10 a head would be greatly under valuing what these workshops are worth.
For the future, I could sure use some pointers on the proper use of hand chisels.

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

Shop fee is irrelevant at $10, time and location = my ability to attend. And I would love to.

Tim, bring several of your chisels and we'll see if we can get some work in w/ them. I can't promise any expertise, but I bet we can find some time to try different things in the shop. And we know they'll be sharp. :wwink:

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

I have touched up a little carbide when desperate. We can talk about it just a little but hand tools need constant sharpening and most people need practice in that simple task. So, I prefer to stick to that subject.

I will bring the microscope for some edge inspection.

Depending on the date I'm interested. Anything from a pocket knife on up is of interest to me. Fees are OK.

Please count me in!
I've been hoping you'd find time for this since I missed it last time around.

Shop fee is non issue.

Thanks
Steve

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

I would be interested in this as well, depending on schedules and such. Fee seems generous!

Seems like enough to get started.

What is a good date for this group? Remembering I only have Saturdays.

Here's the shop/my schedule for the rest of the year:

May 19, NCWW Picnic

August 4, tentative Shop Crawl date

September 15, M-WTCA event in Raleigh

Every other Saturday in 2012 is open. Just pick a date.

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

The wife and I are expecting our first child early June, so that month may be difficult. Other months/saturdays are good. But don't let my schedule stop ya'll.

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

I was at the last sharpening workshop and it was very useful. I highly recommend it. I would have gladly paid a $10 workshop fee and would certainly be willing to do so for future workshops. I would love to see a veneer/inlay workshop.

Hoping you folks do have a sharpening or turning lesson this summer. I will be back from Japan during end of June to August.

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

May 26-27 is my turning workshop, I hope to be learning spindle turning then.

I hate to put it off that long but June is looking like the earliest opportunity.

Re: Time for a sharpening workshop?

Unless something changes I could due June 2nd, 16th, or 23rd. I'd be completely willing to pay the suggested fees...
