I went home (in the mountains) today to help my father work around the yard. Ended up coming home with a 14" diameter black locust, and 2 8" dogwood trees. Tomorrow, or next weekend, I will cut them into bowl blanks and paint them up good for storage. While I was there, my mother asked me if I would cut down a maple, beech, and another locust tree when I came up again.:wsmile:

The poor little toyota pickup if going to have to work pretty hard in the next few weeks.

BTW green locust is very heavy.....

You SUCK, Dogwood makes great mallets and other implements of slight persuasion.
According to Jeff that Black Locus will look awesome under a Black Light... I could see some groovy uses for it ;)

Dogwood is one of my favorite turning woods. The wood cuts beautifully and is such a pleasant cream color.

You're lucky to have such large pieces.

Black Locust I have no experience with, but I suspect you better turn it while it's green.
