Years ago, I could get many patterns that were printed in what was called "scroller friendly' red ink. The red lines are so much easier to follow, since it is red in front and black in back of the blade after you make a cut. I have a real problem one complicated pieces, keeping track of where I have cut, and where I NEED to cut!

When I couldn't find red line patters any more, I went to Kinko's and copied them on a red-ink copier. Now they no longer have that type copier!

I've attempted to reproduce them in red, scanning the patterns and changing the line color, without much success.

Has anyone else tried to do this with any success?

What problems did you have with your scan? Quality issues or problems changing the color?

For quality you should have your scanner set for B&W Document and at least 600 dpi. If the quality is OK and you can't change the color I can do that for you if you like. Let me know if you want to send me the file and I'll give you the address.

I am not sure what you have tried to date, but have you tried editing them in a photo editing software such as Photo Shop? You might be able to add a layer where you set all colors except red to a minimal value, and max out the red value.

The other thing that comes to mind sounds real goofy - but I'll share it any how: One of the symptoms I encounter when my color cartridges start dying is the only color that seems to be left is red. That got me wondering if you might have the type of printer that would take a red-only cartridge. That way no matter what your PC said, you would only get red print!

As I do some scrolling myself, that sounds like a neat idea and worth the time to check it out! I'll give it some more thought and experiment myself. If successful, I will let you know!

Thanks for the replies folks!

I've tried editing my scans, with various software, the problem being that most patterns when scanned seem to have more dots and broken lines, causing a LOT of time to be taken with color changes.

I've tried to set printer parameters to print EVERYTHING red, but that was a no-go also.

BUT...I just got and idea from one of the replies. I'm going to try re-filling my empty B&W print cartridge and my empty color cartridge w/red in all three chambers... It's worth a shot!

I'll let the group now if it works. It was SO much easier to hit Kinkos when they had various color ink copiers!

Your scan should be of the same quality as the original if you have it set up correclly. ie. shouldn't be any broken lines or dots.

When is the last time you cleaned the glass?:eyeslam:
