Scraps and a gloat

Here's what I've been up to lately. No furniture, no lovely pens, no bowls, just shop stuff from scraps.
This is my sacrificial fence for the PM66. The 'h' frame is MDF, painted mostly but with five coats of poly on the slide side. I haven't cut the sacrificial opening yet, I was too excited to post these pics. Oh, the red oak ZCI came from scrap.

View from the operator's perspective. The strips on the top were, guess what, scrap. Also, the saw handle push block (made that a long time ago) was from scrap. The diamond oak decoration is offcut. My scrap source for the featherboard was a piece of 5.5/4 oak, and rather than burn up planer blades, I sliced it on the bandsaw. I initially tossed it in the trash bin, and then, scrap fever took over and I retrieved it. Some natural danish oil and it provides some visual interest for the fence.

This shot also shows the melamine outfeed table that I discussed in an earlier reply to an outfeed table posting.

Another view.
I've heard y'all like pictures, so I wasn't bashful. This shot shows the Biesemeyer splitter and AKB pawls that I had to practically re-machine to get to fit. However, once fitted up, I feel slightly safer, although I continue to have great respect for the WWII.

This shot shows the sliding dovetail joints. Tight sliders with Titebond II in MDF makes for rock solid construction.

What's that yellow thing away in the distance? Right beside the Pizza Inn thermos, which holds my shop water. We'lll have to go see about that.

From the backside.
Threaded inserts gorilla'd in. Ace Hardware didn't have the right size starwheels, so I stuck a cap screw in there temporarily.

Well, well. What do we have here? Gloat, gloat?
Caught it on Amazon for $149. Currently selling for $ 272. All my chisels are shorter now, as NONE had the proper full grind. My scarysharpening had been limited to the bevel edges only. Will post a review after I've had it a little longer.
Amazon.com: Scheppach Tiger 2000 7 Amp Vertical Wheel Wet Grinding / Sharpening System: Tools & Hardware
I tried to get the floppy to fit in my laptop, but I've got to grind down the edges to make it fit. When I get it loaded, I'll let you know what it says.

Here's the auxillary table for the little drill press.

The melamine was scrap from the outfeed table, it's edged in scrap poplar strips, the fence is cherry scrap, and the T-Track (as was the track in the fence) was scored from Rockler when they were half off. As Lady Luck would have it, after installing the twin tracks in the drillpress table, the cutoff was almost a great fit in the fence. If you check out the third pic, that brown stuff to the left of the blue stuff is a SCRAP of walnut.

If I changed my screen name to Scrapman, would y'all know who I was? Just don't put a period and space after the S in Scrapman.

One final note: Clearvue cyclone ordered. I am told that General Materials is a supplier for S&D 2735, they are my work next door neighbors, I'm paying them a visit on Tuesday. Will report back.

Great job with the scraps. You are going to love the ClearVue, I installed mine last year and does it SUCK. Be sure to seal every joint when you assemble it. I just picked up a Tormak sharpener but have not used it yet. Also a great job on the post format. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to insert the pictures like that - position, size, etc.

Very nice fence addition. Show us more of that fancy handled push device. It looks like a nice addition for a shop.

Is that a slow speed sharpener(1725)? What size/grit is the wheel? is that a buffer on the other side? Oh!! you SUCK!!

That is almost too many cool things to have in one post. :eusa_danc

I love the fence. It looks well designed and the fit looks perfect.

Regarding the RO TS insert, does it work okay? How did you make it? Did you just rough cut on the BS then finish on the router table?

Nice DP table. I managed to get a few packs of the T-track kit during the Rockler special and the DP will get a new table. Not sure when I'll get to it but I believe it will save me some setup time. It's a pain to use clamps and a wood fence.

As for the sharpener - a hearty YOU SUCK is in order! I know you must be in love with that bad boy.
