As a beginning woodworker with a very limited tool arsenal (woodguy disease without the means to support it), I don't have a heck of a lot to contribute yet but I did want to thank and commend the input everyone makes on this site. Anyway, indulge me for a minute in a semi-woodworking topic.

If you're like me you probably have a spare change jug laying around the house and are pretty surpised how much is actually in it when you cash it in. I usually take it to a Coinstar machine, those little change counting kiosks at the grocery store, and "pay" my 15% usage fee. Coinstar now has a partnership with certain vendors where you can get the whole 100% of your value if you opt for a gift card as opposed to cash. One of their partners is Amazon. It's not a bad gig if you shop on Amazon already and a pretty painless way to save up for a new addition to the shop. Besides, you get some great looks with statements like "I'm only a milk jug away from that new router".

Thanks again for all the great advice!

That's a good pointer. Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean - WG disease is a nasty affliction! So... how many milk jugs will it take to get me one of THESE?!?!?

That milk jug of change is my daughters college fund. I would suffer a painful death if I spent it on tools

Great idea, I have also heard of people dropping 50 cents into a jar everytime they use their shop for a new tool fund.

BTW Randy, welcome to the site, please create a thread in the "Who We Are" forum and give us a proper introduction.
See you around!!!
Dave:)

State Employees Credit Union is also setting up Change Machines in some of their branches. And it's free

My oh my, what has Woodguy started :?:
Depleted college funds, delayed retirements, and busted piggy banks

I have a spare 5 gallon water cooler bottle that you might need to start collecting coins in for that beast!

Just a FYI.. if you are a member of a credit union, they usually have those same machines in their branches.. free of the "usage fee". I used to use my change to buy tools and supplies.. then I had kids. Now, my wife raids my jar every time I get about it about 1/4 and puts it in the kids bank.
