Being a newbie here you may have covered this in an old post.....
I did try to search , but nothing found.

Have any of you worked with Rubberwood before.
I have been looking for a less expensive hardwood alternative for "playing"
and experimenting and I came across this site/place in High Point.
I'm trying to get feedback on the material as well as the vendor before I drive to pick the stuff up.
The only shorcoming I see is the max length of boards you can purchase.

I plan on placing an order shortly. Let me know if there is anything I need to look out for.
Thanks from a newbie....yf

There was a thread about it a while back on Woodnet. Several folks said, incorrectly, that it was in the maple family. I felt I had to set the record straight, at least botanically:cool: But I do agree that it works like maple and looks similar to maple. It comes from a tree in the Eurphobiaceae family whose sap is used to produce latex (same family as Poinsettia). Once the tree reaches a certain age it no loner is a viable producer and is cut for lumber. Very often used for furniture wood by the big manufactures. Please update us when you get yours.

We use rubberwood in the manufacture of our furniture. It is a good wood to work with. It can be substituted for lots of different woods. Not quite as strong or dense as some of the traditional american hardwoods, but it machines easily and finishes ok.
