Thanks, I have been using a flat grind Freud blade. Very likely, that when I have the issue, its my wood prep or pressure.As noted above, not having the wood flat will create the step when moving the table saw fence for a 3/16" cut using the blade . A properly sharpened combination blade, either alternate top bevel or triple chip, has a raker tooth that should create a flat bottom cut in the manner that you are using it. A straight alternate top bevel only or triple chip only blade will leave a peak in the middle, or bevels on the side, respectively.
Perhaps using a 3/16" router bit, either with a fence or in a router table, would also eliminate the extra step of needing a router plane, which I like using as much as the next guy, but why work harder than you have to?
I can see it if you enjoy working with only hand tools, a version of "woodworking unplugged", but if you are already using a table saw to begin with.................
