Rough to Ready and Hand Tool Sharpening

Rough To Ready. July 8. 9-5
Participants will take a board from its roughsawn state to the finished surface, dimensioned and square, using only handtools. The workshop will cover plane blade sharpening, scraper sharpening, the use of winding sticks, squares, marking and panel gauges. We will foursquare a board using a scrub plane, jack plane, jointer plane and finally a smoothing plane. All tools will be supplied to you.

Hand Tool Sharpening. July 16. 9-5
I will cover all aspects of sharpening common workshop tools (specifically planes, chisels, spokeshaves and scrapers). Bring your dull tools to be worked on. I will supply tools for practice as well. Sharpening stations will be set up for slow speed grinding, Tormek grinder, Makita power grinder, Japanese waterstones, Shapton/Norton stones, diamond stones and ceramic stones. This will be a great opportunity to try out the available sharpening methodologies and see what you like. If you have special requests for sharpening, please email me as well.

Bill what is the cost on the Sharpening class? I sure could use some schoolin' in that aspect, and I like the hands on aspect...I can come away with some sharp tools :-D :-D

Dave, according to the WC flyer I got this week the Rough to Ready class is $85 and the Sharpening class is $65.

I was up at WC today and wish I would have asked about the rough to ready class. The class size is limited to 4 so I may give them a call tomorrow to see if there are any slots left for it.

I have taken the rough to ready class and it is excellent. The instructor is excellent and very flexible in what he covers. I would recommend his classes to anyone.
