I just bought a Rikon 8" slow speed grinder (model 80-805). When I turned it on the left wheel has some wobble. The right wheel runs true. For those that have this grinder, did you experience this issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Here is what I have already done:
Now my question is: How much wobble is acceptable? Am I being too picky? As I turn the wheel slowly by hand, the wobble is appx. 1/16" side-to-side. Right now my inclination is to return it and buy another new one and hope it doesn't have the same issue.
Thanks in advance for your sage wisdom, or just your $0.02 worth.
Checked the shaft for run-out. None! Shaft is true.
Swapped wheels left to right. No difference. Left side still wobbles, right side runs true. Not the wheel.
Thoroughly cleaned rust / gunk from shaft. Problem still exist. Not the shaft.
Made sure flanges were dead flat and no debris / burrs. Problem still exist. Not the flanges.
Followed instructions on pg. 18 of owners manual regarding wobble. No change. Not the owner's manual. Not sure about the owner.
Talked to Rikon tech support. Nice guy. Not much help.
