Now that I have plenty of 220V outlets in the shop, I'm trying to rewire all tools that will allow it to 220. I've done the Dust collector, Drill Press, and I want to do the Bandsaw. The first 2 were easy and the wires were clearly marked and accessable. But the bandsaw may be another matter.:shocked7fl: I can't find the proper place. The only place that I think it could be is on the motor at the back where I can't access it with out removing the motor:BangHead: Not something I want to do right now, becuase of the difficulty and time it would take to alighn and adjust everything, once I did.

So, is there anybody out there that rewired any Delta 14" BS and knows for sure where the rewiring access is? I don't want to pull the motor just to find out that I missed an obvious place.

The diagram for 120 vs 220 plus direction reversing instructions should be on the motor plate- can't you take both sides of the cabinet off your drillpress to see it? The other place to check is the web- get the motor type/model then go to the Marathon or Baldor, etc. web site where they will have wiring diagrams. Be sure to check the direction of rotation before closing everything up :-D :-D

FYI, I will be installing a 2 hp motor in my 14" Delta soon.

Alan, it is not the wiring diagram that is giving me the problem. It's where are leads to rewire. The base of the BS has only one opening, so I can't get to back of the motor with out removing it. I want to be sure that is where the rewiring leads are before I go to the trouble of removing the motor from the inside of the base cabinet.

Steve, it is the only place they could be. It is right where the wire goes in to the motor. FWIW I would not bother to rewire it. There is no real gain.

So in other words, I would have to pull the motor out:BangHead:

Thanks

Well, you'd have to pull the motor out if it's the only way to get at the motor plate.

What is your reason for going to 220V for this tool? Is your bandsaw tripping the breaker? If it's not, I would not bother rewiring it. You have absolutely nothing to gain by rewiring that motor, except maybe a headache and skint knuckles.
