One of the mags did a review of OS's in the last two or three months. Anyone remember which one?

PC Mag compared Mac OS X to Windoze Vista a while back but I don't remember which issue :slap:

Sorry, I'm just in one of those moods . . .

I didn't see the article but if you google "oscillating spindle sander review" you will get lots of info.

That's all right, Pete. I thought the same thing. Didn't know why a question about operating systems was in General Woodworking!!

Nope, don't remember the mag, but, the new Rigid for $79 came out on top, followed by the new Porter Cable at around $129.

I wondered too - operating systems in this forum? Too funny (that it took so long for me to recognize my mistake).

if your are talking about oscillating spindle sanders it was fine woodworking. :icon_chee.... the key there is buy the rigid
If it was orbital sanders... i don't know about recently. I can tell you that i have had good experiences with my porter cable and not so good experiences with the black and decker as a sander but it works good as a paper weight, although the cord gets in the way.

Wood did a review of random orbit sanders in the October 2008 issue. This is the issue with the wooden car on the cover. Porter Cable 390K - the new $130 sander - got "Top Tool". The Milwaukee 6021-21 ($70) got "Top Value". I've had the Milwaukee on order from Tyler tool for a month now - they are backordered. They thought pretty well of the Rigid R2600 which they indicate also costs about $70. It got downgraded for worse dust collection and a little worse scratches on oak.

My Milwaukee 6021 came today. I used it a little and so far I am impressed. Sands well and is relatively quiet and smooth.
