I'll assume that Marathon follows NEMA color/terminal number designations.
Terminals 5 an 8 are red and black. That fits. Those two wires go to the start circuit and determine rotation direction.

We’re on to something now. Only color missing is orange. Maybe that’s black with white stripe.
I’m getting close to getting a shot of the motor plate. I can just make out the connections but some are very blurry. Sorry.

That doesn't look NEMA to me.
Likely some of the electrical gurus can cypher this to work with a drum switch.
Bob thanks. And everyone else who has tried to help.
I can tell from the motor plate what needs to be changed but dog if know how through a drum switch. You can tell this is too much on my mind if I’m thinking about it on Christmas Day. Worst case I let out the magic smoke.. Switch should be here soon.

This will work, look at item 76 here. Probably your best bet. the description says 3 PH only but its assembled to a single phase sander. I have a similar setup on my woodtek 20" disc sander (ill bet its the same part)

Strom, I have put two reversing switches on lathes. I look at the switch and see how the contacts are made when I turn it to forward and reverse. Then I look at the motor and see which way it is connected for clockwise or counterclockwise rotation. I figure which way is going to be forward and then wire those wires to the forward side of the switch. Do the same for the reverse side of the switch. So I have in essence run two sets of wires from the motor to the switch. But it has worked for years with no problem.

On the lathes I've wired with reversing switches, the power feed came into the motor, then to the drum switch, and then back to the motor, as described above. You are basically re-routing the connection point for the reversible leads. My drums had a central open position so no other control was involved. If your motor has a starter contactor, you will need to use that as your on/off method.
