I’ve got 35 year old standing redtips in Statesville,NC if anyone is interested. Never been pruned and the tops are above the power lines.

It's a "red tip photinia". It's a shrub with many small trunks, not a tree.

I found this from a quick search.

”Photinia is one of my favorite wood for turning, the rarely seen wood is comparable to Boxwood in density, but with a warmer tone. These shrubs never grow very big and is oftem use as hedges around here.”

I believe this is redtip. 8" tall X 6.5" across the opening. Turned it last month before I got the hollowing tool. So think about a Hunter Osprey and a Robust "J" tool rest reaching as far as both would go. Having a 6" 'mop' sanding gouge was a big help.

If I was closer, I would be interested in a couple pieces.
