red oak lumber

Does anyone know the best place to get some red oak lumber in the Hickory/ Lenoir area? I need good lumber at the lowest possible price. Work is slow and money is tight. I want to build a piece of furniture for my daughter that she designed herself. Its a kind of storage cabinet with drawers on the bottom and shelves on top for her dorm room.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You may want to try Catawba Hardwoods -- they have moved a few times, but my Yellow Pages search yielded 5019 Hickory Blvd. and phone number is 828-313-0721. That may be an old address -- another listing shows them at 2586 12th Avenue Northeast, Hickory, NC 28601 and phone number 828-328-9663.

I have some of Brian's White Oak and it's very nice. Maybe some one will split this with you if you don't need all of it. If that doesn't work Kyle Edwards is just down 73 from Brian a few miles and I'm sure he'll take care of you.

What is your time frame for the lumber? I am sawing 5000 bf of Red Oak as we speak and could set aside some quality stuff at good prices if needed.
