My wife needs a shower seat to make things easier on her. There is a mill <5 miles from where I am now that specializes in cypress. Would this be a good choice for this type of wet environment?

I also assume I need to use SS hardware & fasteners....

TIA

the cypress and ss hardware would work well.

fwiw i saw a very sturdy well-priced shower stool at ikea the other weekend. i was drug there by my wife as pennance for not not getting my son's bed made. it cost me $ 450 for a couple nice book shelves and a chest of drawers. as much as it pains me to admit i couldn't have gotten the materials for what twice what the rta stuff cost us.

Jerry,

First, let me say that I am SO glad to hear that you're making sawdust! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap :icon_cheers

I think cypress would be a great choice for it. I made this bench out of cypress almost two years ago and it has stood up wonderfully outside and for one year it was completely exposed to the elements. Finished with a few coats of exterior (spar?) poly. We sit on it daily and neither Christy or I have had any splinters. :icon_thum
