I spent a couple of hours with Tom, mgr, and Doug, owner of the Raleigh Woodcraft discussing discounts for NCWW members. Doug is willing to do something within the bounds Woodcraft policy. What he came up with is periodic "promotions" for his store.

The idea for the first would be a 10% discount (excluding power tools, Leigh and Festool) The discount would be for 30 days and we would have supply eligible members with a discount card that had the Member's Name, so it could be checked against their Driver's License, an expiration Date and the appropriate fine print.

If this brings in sales, then he would consider other promotions, such as a promotion on turning tools, again for a specified period. If a few of these were successful then something more permanent might be in the cards.

The biggest logistics problem would be that we don't have the full names of most members and many would be hesitant to provide them.

Please chime in.

Well, like my rather lengthy comments about the requirements of membership. If a member wants a card to get a discount, then they will have to give the required information. If not ..no card. The information could be given to one source and kept private.

Steve, that sounds like a great idea. Any thoughts on how we could get the cards distributed in a timely manner? Is there anything the other Mods or Admins can do to assist if this comes to fruition?

Just email them and let people print them out. I've just got to come up with a way to reduce the chance of counterfiting. I think I know how to do it, but I've got to get WC to agree.

Oh, in this case, I agree with you:eusa_doh: :eusa_clap  The only problem is that these will be time offers, I have to generate them quickly, so the info has to be already on hand. That means I need to explain to people why and how they should provide the needed info. And to do this without throwing everyone into a panic again:roll:
