Hello everyone,
My name's Brandon and I live in Raleigh. I've had a long interest in woodworking, and someday plan to design and build all the furniture in my home, but for now, my only tools are a ryoba saw, a mitre box and my imagination. Living in an apartment complex makes it tough to engage in woodworking, so for now, I'm happy to just read the posts and ask questions to learn more about this wonderful hobby. I would appreciate any suggestions for classes in the area, as well as any simple projects I can perform. I love the feel and the warmth of wood, and hope to produce many beautiful pieces in the future. I look forward to being a part of this community.

WELCOME!!!!!! I am glad you found us, please feel free to ask questions and/or reply to anything you would like. There are all skill levels represented here. There some good classes offered at both Woodcraft, and the Woodworking Store (Klingspor's) If you feel the need to create before you get the space, I am just down the road (N. Johnston Co.) and would be more than happy to let you use my shop. See you around.

Dave:)

Welcome Brandon! I can fully understand your predicament. Generally apartment neighbors get upset hearing a table saw or planer running!

Don't know if you have already done so or not, but you might want to check out the Triangle Woodworkers Association. It is woodworking club to which several people on this site belong. They meet monthly and many times have workshops that align with the monthly program. That would let you get a chance to lean a bit more about the hobby, and even get some hands on time without having to have a shop of your own.

Here is a link to the latest newsletter (which also contains the website). Might be of some interest to you.
