I made three Oland handles 5/8 , 3/4 , and 1" and they came out real well.My question is about the face angle that you should sharpen the cutters to.I think I may have overcut the first one as it almost self feeds.Took a heavy-- inadvertant cut out of a piece I was turning. Is the cutting edge close to 90 degrees to the top edge then ground back or what.I need a little wisdom ,I also used some hot rolled steel for the handles because it was what I had on hand but the next ones may be aluminum. The 1 inch handle has no feel because of the weight.Thanx:dontknow:

Greg,
I see that you are in Mooresville also. I just made up my Oland Style tool. If you want I could show you how I grind mine. Its kind of hard to describe. I grind mine square to a 45 deg angle then rotate the cutter to slightly round the bevel. Anyway if you want to get togather to see my oland tool grind let me know. I live off Mazzepa Road.

Also see my previous post on this subject and DaveO posted a pretty good picture of his grind.
