I am rebuilding ( lots of reinforcement and repair) a clone Eames chair. Planning on using real Toray UltraSuede HP, but wondering if there are clones of the same quality. HP is 1mm/11.1 Oz. Most of the Amazon stuff is .6 or .7mm, around 6 oz. But, real US is over $100/yard and most of the clone stuff is below $25.
Know any upholstery shops that have samples of this stuff in the area? Any actual competitive brands? I do want the toughest as it needs to last our life in every day use.
This project is going to test my veneer repair skills for sure! A bit of welding, super glue to reinforce plywood holes , remake a couple plywood pieces, and every trick in the book.
