I got the email below today, and it got me thinking are there products for disabled woodworkers and I just don't know about it? I wrote him back and said I could set him up with a router and a vacuum lift, but that I don't ahve any specific items to make it easier to do woodworking with 1 arm or 1 leg. If any of you know something, please let this guy know it seems like a worthwhile project he's doing. I told him about the sit down lathe from oneway and that is really the only product I've seen marketed to folks with any type of disability.
Thanks in advance for your help guys.
Hello sir,
I run the woodworking shop at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center's Arts & Crafts Center. Since working here I've had the opportunity to work with several of the amputee patients here at the hospital and I have been looking for ways to help them regain their confidence and help teach them new skills. As you can probably imagine it is difficult to work with some of the machines in a wood shop when a person happens to be missing a hand, arm or leg. I understand from your website that you are resellers of used equipment and was hoping that you might have or know where I might be able to locate tools or add-ons for machinery that might help in allowing these patients the ability to work with these tools. I look forward to meeting your representatives at the IWF show in Atlanta this month and hopefully we will be able to build a strong business relationship.
Thank you,
Christopher Wright
