Hi everyone,

This is my first "real" post, so please let me know if my question belongs in another forum.

I am upgrading my table saw, and will be selling a Jet JWCS-10. This is the 2hp "hybrid" saw with the enclosed base. It comes with a biesemeyer fence, extension table, upgraded link belts, mobile base and is in very good condition. It has a white finish and is approx. 8 years old.

My question is what is a fair price for this saw? I have done a google search and have not come up with much. They really do not make this version anymore and the only thing I can really compare it to is the Jet supersaw. Any advice or information would be appreciated!

Gonzalo,
This is a hard question for someone to answer site unseen but I'll give you my opinion.
Sounds like a nice saw with some upgrades....Since cabinet saws start at approx $ 1000.00 brand new, and hybrids run $ 600 - $ 1,200 I would estimate you could sell it for $ 475.00. I think it's probably worth a bit more but good used saws typically sell somewhere between 50% and 70% of the new price.

It's a tough item to price. As you pointed out, this model is no longer made. Normally, used items sell for ~50% of the _current_ new price. If it's in great condition, 60%, if it's damaged/ worn 40%. But, it's 8 years old, and the market has changed. Lots of new hybrid saws have come out. The Craftsman 22124 goes on sale for around $800 regularly, the Grizzly 1023 cabinet saw sells for $1000, and Ridgid makes an excellent contractor saw for $500.

You can buy a new hybrid saw for ~$800. Add in the extras (Bies, extension table, mobile base), and you're looking at $1,000. So 60% would be $600. That might be a decent place to start. Another option is to start high, then lower if you don't get any interest. But that is not always the best strategy.

I agree with Bas, if it is in good shape you should be able to sell it for 50% of new, and sell it fairly quickly. When I buy used I look and offer in the 50% range, when I sell I also price in the 60% range expecting an offer of 50%.

Thanks for all the responses!

I was thinking more along the lines that a new Jet Supersaw is about $1500-$1600, and I was going to take 50-60% of that. I may need to do a bit more research........
