Powermatic Tablesaw - adding an extension

I just bought a powermatic 64 tablesaw with the 30" Biesemeyer fence. I need to add an extension to complete the right side of the table between the rails. I can order one from powermatic but it is $136 and it just a laminate top.

Are there aftermarket extensions that will fit this saw or it wood seem pretty simple to just make my own extension out of a nice hard wood. Any recommendations? The extension would need to be 27 X 15 X 1.5"

Make your own. Some MDF doubled up with some laminate and hardwood edging, or Melamine if you don't want to deal with the laminate. While you're at it consider dropping a router plate in the extension table, and kill two birds with one stone, extension table and router table.

I just bought a PM2000. I am not using the extension that came with it. You want it..you can have it! My sop is small and it just takes up space.
