Wow!!! For those that leave Shop-Vacs plugged in, you may want to check your instructions and skim the Safety Warnings. I believe you may discover your manufacturer does not recommend leaving their product plugged in and unattended.


I don’t recall exactly where I saw the post, but someone had a shop vacuum that ran all day while they were away at work. Needless to say, the vac got really hot!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I treat my shop vacuums worse than a rented mule. I don’t like to run those vacs too long when I’m using them, and I cringe at the thought of one running for 8-10 hours while I’m away.



My intention is to never leave any of my power tools plugged in.



While I can come up with a variety of Safety reasons to unplug them, I’m uncertain what is actually gained by leaving them plugged in?
