Planing lumber mystery

I was planing some lumber this morning and I flattened one side with my hand plane.

each time i made a pass through the planer the top (opposite the flat side) got more twisted.

i checked the side I flattened, it was still flat.

what was going on?

finally it hit me to check the out feed table. Sure enough the table adjustment screws were loose and one side was much lower.

i adjusted and tightened the screws and all is back to normal

When you have a loose screw, a lot of mysteries can happen.
