I picked them up a short while ago. It is rare to see any local deals to me on Craigslist worth having. I normally have to plan on a road trip to Charlotte or further for anything interesting...

I had been in need of a jointer plane for a while so it was particularly fortuitous. Buying one on Ebay in any sort of decent condition would have likely cost near as much as the entire lot- I had almost resigned myself to buying a #6. I believe this one dates to 1931 or 32. I gather the 414 to be more or less like a Stanley #5; my most used plane by far is a Veritas Low Angle Jack followed by a Veritas #4 so I think it will slot in nicely.

I have several block planes that are quite well set up as is but the more the merrier I suppose. Cleaning them up will be a rainy day project at some point. All items are in perfectly usable shape.

The couple selling the tools are just downsizing some clutter according to them. They were (and will be) users, not collectors. They will have several more listings in the near future and I gather these offerings are representative of the type and quality. I told them that posting them here may see them go quickly and with better results than Craigslist.

That 414 should make a nice user. Sargent doesn't get the love like Stanley but I've found them to be comparable in my real world use. I'll take one in a fast second...
