It's beautiful wood. Works very well with a tight grain. In the same genus as Ebony. Makes a nice pen.

I'll take some scrap if you mill it up :-D :-D

Wanye, Ted came across a mature 25 acre tract of forest, we went out there today and marked a few trees with permission of the land owner. While walking around out there we found one persimmon tree that's right good sized. Ted know his trees, I on the other hand am just learning to identify them.
Mind you we still have to gain permission from the land owner to take it and pay him for the tree if he will allow us to take it. I put this thread up seeing if there was any interest.

I appreciate your responding, it helps me understand if there is any interest.

I'd be interested in some persimmon if you get it. I just built a wine box with some persimmon I cut out of my mom's yard a few years ago. Beautiful wood to work with.

Persimmon makes an absolutely gorgeous wainscotting, when cut as 1 x 4's or 1 x '6's and bead boarded.

One day I may consider building some kitchen or bathroom cabinets out of it.
