I have seen, actually it has been around for a long time, a PC pancake compressor with three nailers. I may be building the interior for a new shop in the near future. I will be making a lot of cabinets.... The thought of doing like Norm and letting brads hold things together while the glue dries is rather appealing. I know I am taking the lazy way out but does anyone have this PC kit and if so what do you think of it. I was also thinking about using brads for furniture trim molding in the future. Would one of the guns be good for this. Tried Wonder Brads and did not like them very much.

I've had the kit for about 3 years.

I've used up to 2" brads and the stapler, they work great.

Its a good "value" in my opinion. I don't build houses or drive 15" lag brads (made that up).

One thing I have found very, very useful is portablility. I've dragged it to other houses to help put up trim, inflated more than one truck tire and sometimes blow dust out of my tools.

I don't think you can use it to drive a whole shop compressed air setup, but for day to day work, I find it quite useful.

Keye,

I also have had the PC kit (brad, finish and stapler) for about two years. Can't say I use it every day but it has been great for shooting nails in household trim and "tacking until the glue dries":eusa_shhh In addition to the guns in the kit, I picked up the PC pin nailer last Fall and it is a pretty good little pin nailer for the real small stuff and practically leaves the hole invisible. I also do use it a lot for blowing dust off of tools once in awhile.

About the only thing I don't like about it is the racket it makes. It is NOISY when it's cycling. (Great for waking up my teenage daughters on a quiet Saturday morning!!!!:rotflm:)

Other than the noise, I have had no issues with the set at all. (I wouldn't expect it to do very well at all with a framing gun though!!!)

I also have the kit and have used the heck out of it. I have had zero problems with it, until the last couple of days. I am trying to use the 16 gauge to nail through the tongue of 3/4" maple flooring where the floor stapler will not reach. For some reason, quite a few of the nails are not going in right. I have a feeling there may not be anything wrong with the gun but how I am using it. It's hard to get the "shoe" flush against the tongue.

Even with the problems I'm currently having, I would buy this set again. Only negative I can think of is the compressor is very loud.

Another vote for LOUD. So loud that sometimes I get irritated just by looking at it when it's not even on.

There are folks that have built a lined box for the things to dampen the roar.

I've had the kit for a while and use it quite a bit. The stapler comes in more handy than I thought. For the moulding, I'd suggest the pin nailer that Wayne mentioned. "No-See-um" type holes.

The compressor is very handy if you need portable air. All airless compressors is LOUD! At least all that I've seen.

I've had this kit for several years also. I absolutely love it. I do build houses and use the 16 and 18 gauge guns to run trim, and the stapler to install the underlayment (luan) for vinyl floors. Never a trouble. Hard to go wrong with P-C

Jim should know that lag brads only come in even inch lengths (and I just made THAT up)...

I have it also. It's great for my needs. It is a bit loud, but so is my planer. I can't hear well anyways so it doesn't bother me much:roll:. I've been very happy with the guns, and I have never had a problem with them.

Ditto the positive comments about the PC kit, and negative comments about the noise.

You can increase it's usefullness by adding an additional storage tank in line. That will help it keep up with the volume required by higher capacity guns (such as framing nailers, etc).

I've had mine since 2003 when they first came out -- I bought the 2-nailer kit on Amazon.com for $279 way back then -- I picked up a used PC FR350 framing nailer and this little (noisy) guy can punch 16d nails all day (I've done several different stud walls with it), and I use the other two (finish and brad nailers) lots and lots on various projects. It still runs like a champ! I even picked up a HF crown stapler for it. Well worth the money, but it won't work very well for running an HVLP spray gun.

I find that the fitting on the underside tends to leave dimples in my pancakes!

I have run a flooring stapler off one of these, as well as a framing nailer, and find that the 150psi version does a good job of running them. Like Scott said, you can increase capacity by adding an inline tank, you could also plumb the shop with air lines, also increasing capacity. One axiom to always follow with one of these: "extend the hose, not the cord"

Preferring waffles over pancakes - is there an adapter available or would I have to look another route altogether??

Almost got to give myself an I suck for passing one of these up. Friend had one and got a second from his mother in law for Christmas. He liked the newer one better and offered me the old one at a next-to-nothing deal.... I thought neat. Then thought what in the heck would I do with one? sheesh I had no idea they'd work as well as I'm now hearing. Live and learn..... I live okie but when does the learning start?.........:tongue2:
