Part replacement

5/16 it is. I zipped the DXF file so I could upload it. I gave it a try with Send Cut Send. 0.5 in. mild steel selected. Not sure what they might have in 0.625 in. material.

Based on the photos, if it is cast iron, I see no reason why it could not be welded back together. Rather than nickel rod, I would probably suggest Silicon bronze with tig.

I just finished TIG welding an input housing from a 1930s vintage railroad track car with a casting thickness of only around 1/8 of an inch. It really should not be that big of a deal.

Cast iron can sometimes be repaired or a replacement can be fabricated, but having the original piece makes it much easier to match the dimensions and mounting holes. A steel replacement might actually be stronger than the original cast iron if it can be made to fit properly.
