Panel saw

Hello friends,
I have been working on a panel saw this week and hopefully will have it done this weekend. It mounts to the wall and will be able to cut full sheets of plywood width and length. I downloaded the plans from PlansNow, it was also in shopnotes #48 here is the link. If anyone wants the plans let me know. http://www.plansnow.com/panelcutguide.html

I am building the fence and guide system in the plans for now but plan on developing a rolling system with triangle aluminum. Thanks everyone for that post helping me find the aluminum. Be blessed friends.

Here are some pics, it shows the main body of the panel saw with the oak T-Tracks that will hold the guide blocks that are part of the fence system. I am mounting it to the wall today and tomorrow will complete the the two fences. If anyone has questions let me know, or if you want to build one I will help you out. Be blessed.

Good job Michael. I was going to say that I'd like to have one if I had room, but looking at the plan, I see it tilts out. I am going to have to try building one. It can be really useful.

I'm interested in how the saw rides the fence. is the saw attached to the fence in any way?

In addition to Marco's question - what kind of a saw will you be mounting on the panel? Just a good circular saw or what?

Looks really good! I have always wanted to build one, but can't find a wall that I have not already dedicated to another use. It's always a hassle to cut those big sheets of ply-board. I wonder if there is a way to have one that mounts to the ceiling and drops down when you wan to use it? Maybe that would work for me.

I don't know that I have ever seen 'stock' triangular aluminum bar. You can get it custom extruded but that is expensive. Could you use 'angle' stock?

I am still looking for the best price on the aluminum stock. I shouldnt be so stingy about the price, up untill now I have used stuff I had in the shop. I will take pics when its done. Be blessed friends.
