Just finished - well almost. The legs need finishing, but the top is done, and I got to use it for lunch.
We frequently eat while watching TV, and the commercial tray was just too small at 14 X 18. This one is 16 X 27. And it looks a lot better. The inlay banding is redheart (AKA Chakte Kok) with ebony and holly stripes. Added the solid ebony edges for durability as well as a nice touch - I think. Lot of work for a TV tray, but it is something I will admire and use a lot.

How thin are the holly and ebony stripes? They look to be about .015

Great work

This is why I enjoy this forum. You all give me hope. I would have put a few hex bolts through a piece of 1/8 inch plywood bolted to the commercial trays
