Anyone know of plans for an outfeed table for a PM-64 style saw? Probably most any contractor style might be made to work. Just need to leave a slot for the motor? Right?

Seems I saw them in one of the ww rags some time ago. Any and all help appreciated.

PLANS? PLANS? WE DONT NEED NO STEENGKEENG PLANS! :rotflm: were you thinking of a folding outfeed? I think BAS just finished one. I built my outfeed permanant becaus I would never fold it up anyway and I had the room. if you have the room that is what I would suggest.:icon_thum drill the legs to accept lag bolts. you use the lag bolts to adjust height. my outfeed doubles as a 3rd bench!:rotflm:

Ferd: Yeah, I was thinking of a folding table. I believe the one Bas just finished was for a cabinet type saw? I know I've seen ones for contractor style.

As for them "steengkeng plans" I can follow directions pretty good, but my creativity is lacking. By the way, I'll be down your way tomorrow. Picking up that planer at the KS store in Raleigh at 10:30.

come on by if ya like. I think on the contractor saws you need to make the table in 2 parts. the first part is fixed and extends beyond the motor and the 2nd part is hinged to fold down with some form of support to hold it up when in use. this could be a pair of legs with a stetcher and also hinged to fold under the 2nd part of the table. Ive got a cabinet saw so the 2 part table wouldnt be nessesary. the part nearest the table will need slots for the miter bar to pass through. I did mine all the way through the top so allow sawdust to fall out of the way but you dont have to.

Yup, mine was for a cabinet saw (technically, a "hybrid" - but it doesn't have a motor hanging out the back, which is what matters).
Matt (Splint Eastwood) posted some good pics in a recent thread on melamine. That might give you some ideas.

Ask, and ye shall receive:icon_thum Photo Details (under each picture) provide notes, comments, and some of the dimensions.

Once you have an outfeed table, you'll wonder how you got along without it. Even though it's a temporary work surface for non-tablesaw work, it gets used a lot when I'm using my router table, or a place for my project drawings.

One thing I did, that I would not recommend, is the miter track. Yes, it looks neat, but alignment was a pain.

There you go!! Knew I'd seen it somewhere. Thanks, Bas and Splint! I've got a bunch of maple dimensions that a friend of mine gave me years ago. Came from a chair frame factory up in Pilot Mountain, (Mt. Pilot for those of you from north of Richmond) and it's great stuff for making frames and legs etc.

Thanks again!!

Thanks, Don. I'll omit the track. I mainly want it for ripping. I know there are much better saws out there, but that little 64 has served me so well I don't think I'd ever part with it even if I "stepped up."

ShopNotes #93 has plans for a detachable folding out feed table. Was just looking at it yesterday. ShopNotes # 100 has one submitted by a reader. It was the top tip that month. I have all of the issues of ShopNotes, and Woodsmith. Bruce

Thanks, Bruce. I thought that was where I had seen something, but wasn't sure. I'm pretty sure I have those issues also.

Thanks again. :notworthy:

The miter slots, with our without track (I omitted mine - I remembered Don's post :)) need to be pretty long to accommodate a crosscut sled. I was surprised how much room that took. Much better to rout it all at once, going back afterward is a real pain in the buttocks. As for alignment, I made my tracks about 7/8" wide - an extra 1/16" on either side to make things easy.
