Within the last few days, there are several things that have been proposed such as the classes and the lending library that would benefit from members being able to locate each other in the state. That is one of the reasons that county and zip are required fields in your profile.

I was in the process of greating a list that would show members by their counties and zip codes. When I ran query, I discovered that those fields are missing from a large percentage of our users. Part of this was caused by the conversion from PHP Nuke to vBulletin, which of course is my problem. But I can't re-enter those fields. It also shows that for some people, my calls to update your profiles has gone unheeded.:slap:

So please, please update your profile the next time your are on the site. You must enter the required location fields. If you are a non-resident member, the a selection in the county box for non resident. If you do use that, please also enter enter a short reason why you are interested in this site.

And while your there, fill in some of the other things that you feel confortable with.

I'm sorry, but I've asking for this for quite a while now but very few if any have actually done it. Sooooo...

If your profile has "required fields" that have not been filled in, the next time you try to access the site, you will be taken to the control panel.

Maybe we need to put their names on the board like the teachers used to do in school.

The reason I never did it is because I don't want to enter my DOB. I don't mind filling in the rest of the fields, but I just entered 01/01 for by DOB.

I never completed the profile updates because I didn't want to have to enter bogus data. Since EVERY field is required (ie, you can't fill in every thing else EXCEPT for DOB), I couldn't fill in ANY of the required fields.

As far as I know, you don't NEED to know my DOB in order to run this site. Unless of course you're offering birthday presents to all the members on their birthdays! Regardless, I think letting people know when it's your birthday is fun, and it does lead to a sense of community and all... I can appreciate that. It just should be voluntary, not mandatory, IMO.

Just thought I'd speak up... there may be others who feel the same way, or maybe not. Anyway, my birthday is NOT January 1!!! :lol:

The date of birth field does not require a year. So as far as I can tell, it is useless except for the birthdat wishes.

But if there are any more people who feel that day & month of birth is objectionable, please let know. I can make this not required.
