I’m going through some of my father-in-law’s old tools. I don’t know anything about them, but do oknow some of you will be able to tell me if anything here is of value. We have no use for them. There are two Stanley tools and the work light seems to be a Moffat. Can’t tell you much more than that. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

None of these jump out to me as having more than typical antique tool value ($2), but there are some flea market scavengers on here that might spot something odd. There are piles and piles of old tools around, but most are well-used and served average workers and handymen instead of the rare fine craftsman. There are lots of websites that can help you identify and price out old tools, especially planes and braces, but I feel like 99% of these tools are nothing special. Usually even the 1% won't be until re-furbished by a knowledgeable tool aficionado who knows how to bring out the value without destroying what collectors are looking for.

Stanley scraper and the block plane are decent tools. The defiance depends but can be made decent. The Egg beater looks like a Millers falls the others just depends if you like to restore it or not.

Thanks much to Steve and Oka for the responses about my father-in-law’s tools. The Stanley No. 82 scraper is now spoken for. Any other comments are welcome.
