oil based poly

I have a quart can of unopened oil based poly. What have you folks found to be the average life of this stuff?

Sealed, I have kept it for several years. If it thickens in later life, I thin is with mineral sprits and then use it as a first, sealing coat

It lasts for years and years. Once it has gelled tho, times up.
