Not feeling the love for pocket screws

I'm also not a big fan of pocket hole joinery but it comes in handy sometimes. Be sure and use the correct screws for the wood you're using. Soft wood needs course threads and hard wood needs the finer threads. That can make a big difference.

I have found that the dual thread screws work really well.

Pocket screws solve the problem of screw threads pulling out of end grain so that's how I use them, in place of screwing into end grain, but not in place of an appropriate wood joint (except on shop furniture or maybe something quick and dirty).

I use them for quick joinery in the shop for jigs and cabinets or quick painted projects that require less detail. I always glue them as well. When I am doing fine work, I use more traditional concepts. It is what it is, it's not a miracle joint, it has it's place. BTW, glad you got your jig sorted out.

Patlaw switch to fine threaded, coarse are great in plywood and other SOFT material, fine in all else
