NORTH STATE CT-150D 6" Jointer ???

Does anyone know anything about this jointer?

I belive that Northstate is the private label name for Leneave Supply there in Charlotte. It is a basic China made jointer.

i've sold several pieces of NORTHSTATE over the years it's comparable to a GRIZZLY or SUNHILL. decent equipment for the $$. That model is roughly $ 485 new. I'm guessing you've been to their site http://www.leneavesupply.com/Machinery/NorthState/P04010.aspx

since that's the photo you listed. if you're in charlotte i don't know that you'll get a better buy on a 6" jointer.

The new Griz 6" is $325 plus 70 shipping and the Rigid 6" is $349 at HD.
I'll be going to LeNeave at lunch time to check it out.

Yeah it is a good jointer, but I personally would go with the girz or the ridgid for the money. It is an import, but not a bad machine at all. I have a Northstate 8" jointer, and it works great. The guys at leneave are great to work with though, you probably couldn't find better customer service.

Pete, I don't think you'll be unhappy with any of those . . . at least until you want a larger one. :lol: The North State is clearly almost identical to the Sunhill that gets good reviews :icon_thum

well the grizzly you mentioned doesn't look too bad. the lever for the table adjustment is a nice feature. now i've been wrong so many times i've lost count.

Well, I went over a lunch and chatted with Larry. The difference between the NorthState and the Grizzly and Rigid is dovetailed vs bearing pivoted tables (along with what seem like much more solid parts in general). The tables seem to be the same as the Sunhill but the fence is different. The Sunhill is center mounted and the NorthState is end mounted (Nothing sticking out the back so it can set very close to a wall). Bottom line is I like the NorthState. Problem is I started out looking at a used Delta for $125 and now I'm looking at close to $500:roll: But I'm sure it has nothing to do with that Woodguy thing :eusa_whishave to sleep on it . . .

OK - finally decided. Just got back from Woodcraft with this in the back of my truck:

10% off from Woodcraft plus a free set of blades from Rikon.

It's all the fault of Larry at LeNeave. He gave me an in depth education on what to look for in a jointer. I had like the Rikon all along but didn't want to spend the $500. Larry convinced me that it would be worth it to spend the extra money (unfortunately, for him, I didn't spend it there). The Rikon has everthing he said I should look for plus a few extra features I really like and the 10% off plus the extra blades brought the price down below his NorthState. Now I just have to find someone to help me get it out of my truck!
