Hello Folks,
It's just me a newbie! Ken McGinnis, I'm located in the downtown metropolis of Browns Summit, NC. More accurately described as being just 3/4 mile north of the Greensboro, NC city limits!
I found this site quite by accident as I was trying to follow a link from Craigs List, while searching for a used bandsaw. Obviously I'm not very 'puter literate. But I'm happy that I've landed at what appears to be a very informative and interesting place.
I'm a beginning wood worker, who has been putting his shop together for the last 3 years and hope that I'm finally making some headway! I'm currently looking for my 3rd bandsaw, surely there's one out there that will do what I want to do-besides I'm out of shop space now-:BangHead: .
I much prefer to be in the shop working as opposed to playing with my 'puter, but I'll try and post some recent projects and shop pics' as time allows and I'm able to figure out the navigation processes on this site.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of a Wood Working community so close to home. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the future and sharing in our common interests.
Sincerely,
Ken McGinnis

Welcome aboard Ken. We are so glad that you accidentally found us. The things that make this site so wonderful is the friendly atmosphere, and the geographical closeness of the members, both of which you picked up on immediately. Please feel free to jump in at any time and post some pictures of your work. And if you happen to head south this Saturday, the Out Back in Salisbury will be a good place to meet several of us at 6:30 PM.

Welcome Ken ! Alot of us ain't 'puter litret, myself included. But I do know how to get splinters, measure once and cut twice ( the second cut is always still too short), make lots of sawdust, cough lots of sawdust, and massacre wood, to name a few of my skills. Hang around long enough and you'll find out that some of us spend too much time on here (but, you've got to be on alot to find that out :mrgreen:), but we're a good bunch and you're more than welcome to stay awhile. I'm looking forward to some posts and pics:icon_thum.

Welcome to the best place on earth outside of your own shop of course. Sounds like you already have a case of WGD (wood guy disease) so you will fit right in.

Ken: Welcome aboard! You've found the best site on the web for discussing DIY, trucks, electrical challenges, gloating about new tool, and, oh yeah, occasionally, WOODWORKING! :gar-La;

There's a ton of knowledge here and plenty of advice on anything you may encounter. You'll like this crowd!

I can remember when Browns Summit was a little community in the "country" and the city limits of Greensboro ended at the lake on 220 North! Yep, that was in the 60's. We lived there for a total of 20 years and still have good memories of the area.

:wsmile:

Welcome Ken,

I just looked at a home in Browns Summit but chose Walnut Cove instead.

Hope we can meet sometime. Good luck finding a bandsaw, I bought a Rikon and really like it better than any I have tried. Well, except for the WWII era 36 inch saw a friend has. :rotflm:
