Hi all. What an amazing forum, with such beautiful work!

I have acquired a good amount of slotted cedar panels that were used to line a closet. Most were damaged during removal, such that they can not be slid together any longer. That's fine as I will be using them for various projects (please feel free to offer suggestions!) but I want to know what the best way to store these would be? Currently my workshop is the garage and so the temperature fluctuates. Thanks very much!

If they are already dry, which I would suspect they are, you can just stack them off the ground in a horizontal stack and they will be just fine. There is no need for stickering. Temperature fluctuations won't harm the wood at all. Relative humidity(RH) will have an effect on the wood, but unless you store it in the room that whatever you plan to make out of it will reside, forever. You will always have some fluctuation in the wood's moisture content(MC) due to the RH. Cedar is one of the dryer woods and probably would benefit, from a workability standpoint, to increase a little in MC, I am sure it is crispy dry from being in a closet.
Or you could just store it at my house, and never worry about it again :-D

That is probably the most dangerous suggestion among DaveO's several. If you should leave any wood stock at his shop, it is likely to turn into boxes, or pens, before you know it!

There is a good amount of it, and I would love to donate some so that it not sit idle and wasted in my garage forever. I will take pictures tomorrow. I live in Matthews, just outside of Charlotte to the SE and can possibly meet half way depending on the total distance.

Thanks for the info!

You could store it at Dave's, I think it would morph into blanket chests and boxes being stored over there.
