A few months ago charlessenf posted Old School Tools - Gov Deals & Hickory, NC with info of an auction near me. I ended up winning a few machines one of which was a rusty looking PM 72 of the 1968 vintage. With commision and taxes I'm at $145.00 and a lot of elbow grease which I enjoy.
As advertised. (Someone took the miter gauge shown before I picked it up).
At my shop with a good PB Blaster soaking.
Next I took it completely apart and I mean completely, every nut and bolt. Wire brushed, ospho'd, painted, replaced the arbor bearings and reassembled all but the top/extensions and motor, which I plan on getting to as soon as I have some time. Also need to remove overspray from the handles, make dust and motor covers order a blade and she should be ready to go.
This saw is a 5 hp single phase. I plan to use a biesemyer fence which is currently on my unisaw. The plan is to make a workstation with the PM 72 up front and the unisaw (dado blades) and a rockwell shaper in the back. We'll see how that plan goes.
None of this would have happened without Charles (charlessenf) the enabler!!!
Thanks for looking,
Steve
