My youngest daughter has requested a new desk, I think I have enough white oak left over from her bed and night stand I made her last year ---> http://plansnow.com/heirloombed.html to complete a small desk. Anyone have any ideas? Mainly looking for dimensions (L/W/H). I'm going to have to have it match her bed somewhat, with a small pencil drawer and was thinking of a bar top finish for the top.

yeah, me too!

Anyone have a link for platform bed plans??? Been searching on and off for a couple years now for something that is just right, to no avail!

I have used Thos Moser measured shop drawings for a lot of my diemensions. I don't necessarily like the style, but the measurements are quite good IMO.

I'm working on a desk based on this plan http://store.woodstore.net/kidsoakdesk.html. I am more or less just using the dimensions of the desk. I have built the three "uprights" with traditional mortise and tenon joinery and have two floating plywood panels per piece . I'm not going to build a box to house the drawers but will design some sort of back for the drawer side (or maybe all the way across) and mount the drawers using wood runners or slides mounted on the insides of the panel.

I made that plansnow bed for my daughter about 5 years ago. I did it as a single bed and used poplar since I was going to paint it. If I had it to do over again, I would have dimensioned it to fit the box spring better. I did go back and shorten the rails about six inches. It's still a bit wide for the mattress we have now. Of course, since there are no pictures, I'm making all of this up. :)

Wow you guys are awesome - tons of information!

I kinda like the one wapitiscat supplied http://store.woodstore.net/kidsoakdesk.html but I'm going to be my usual stubborn self and not buy the plan. I think with some modification to match the bed and nightstand, it will do nicely. I would like to ask if anyone knows the average dimensions for the chair hole?

wapitiscat about the bed, I hear you, I need to get it back out in the shop and trim a few inches off the length and width, I have to admit that was one funky plan to try and follow. I kinda gave up trying to follow it close to the beginning of the project, because things just weren't adding up. This plan is one of the reasons, I decided to "wing it" from now on. See now I never make a mistake, just a desgin modification, Yeah Right! keep telling yourself that jeff... :eusa_liar

Thanks again everyone, you are an awesome group of folks!
