Got this today, spent 650 w/ the carbide head, did check to make sure the head fits/ is the right one. Got some Mango as well. Now, I will have an actual jointer

The unit was made 1970-1972

That's a fairly new version of the classic 37-315 8" Delta jointer. I used one for well over a decade.
You did well on that acquisition. It makes jointing longer stock so much easier.

Hoping for follow ups on this! I have the 6" rockwell that's very similar and have contemplated the cutterhead upgrade.

In years past I've come across those jointers with problems for real short money. The problem was that the beds wouldn't raise and lower when the handwheel was turned. The solution was to tighten a setscrew that had gotten loose. This condition is rare but not unheard of. The setscrew holds a threaded sleeve that activates the tables.

Casey, I was on OWWM last night and there was a fellow needing a blade clamp for his 8" Delta jointer. If you replace the existing cutter head with the carbide one you show, you may want to contact him to see if you all can come to some sort of arrangement.
