I live in Davie county. I'm a woodworker but I'm really into turning. mainly into turning smaller things like minitures, pens, tops ect....I've also made a few segmented bowls and a few solid vases
Welcome!!! I would love to see some of your segmented bowls. They combine excellence in both "flat" woodworking, and excellence in turning. The precision it takes to make the tight multi-faceted rings, and then to turn them with the grain going every which way. Very impressive. Make sure to go to Other Links in the upper tool bar and then Request Photo Album, so you can upload some pictures of your work and show us all.

I must admit that I really don't know what a segmented bowl is or would look like! (I am a newbie to woodworking and haven't turned a thing since H.S.! - Now....let me tell ya ...that was a long time ago!!!:crybaby2: ) If you could show us some pictures of your work, that would be great!
Welcome to the site and I am very sure that you will find great folks and a lot turners here!
Thanh, welcome to NCWW. We have a bunch of talented turners here that you will be in good company with. I would love to see some pix of your segmented bowls. I have never turned one before but I know there is a lot of prep work to get one ready for turning and the results are always stunning.
I've post a few pictures of a curved segmented spinning top... I'll have to take a picture of the segmented bowls that I still have around. I couldn't find any only my computer.... I'll see about doing that tomorrow or so.
the stem is walnut, the curved segments are maple and cherry, There is a layer you cant see it is spalted gum and the tip which you also can't see is cocobolo
Very, Very nice Thanh!:eusa_clap Now I think I understand the "segmented" term a little better. I am sure that I would have a hard time turning something that small and intricate! I'm all thumbs!:BangHead:
I am looking forward to seeing some of your bowls!
Hello Thanh and welcome to the site. There are lots of talented turners here (I'm definitely not one of them). Look forward to seeing more of your work.
