Hello all! Just stumbled onto this site today and decided to join. So far, I like what I have seen.

I am a novice woodworker, but like to learn. I have inherited/been given a lot of tools over the years, so most of what I have learned on is older than the new "easier" stuff, but I am getting more and more every year. Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you folks have done and picking your brains when I run into snags!

Welcome Jon, you'll find out there are quite of brains to pick here. You've got some of the best tools availiable (free ones). Glad you stumbled upon our merry band. Lots of nice people here.

Welcome aboard, Jon -- You'll find the members of this site to be knowledgeable and helpful -- no back stabbing around here! Lots of talent, but plenty of newcomers' too -- don't be afraid to ask questions, because they will be answered for you. Be sure to request a photo album to share pictures of your shop, your tools (many times, older is better!) and your projects -- click on the Other Links on the main menu bar and ask for an album. As one member put it, "No pictures -- it didn't happen!"

Welcome to the site and we'll be looking for more posts on what you like doing or want to do. :)

Welcome Jon. As soon as my wife finds my brain, you can pick it. But my wife and most of the people here have assured me that the pickings are slim:lol:

Welcome aboard. Many times the older tools are better than the new ones so if you want to get rid of any I will be glad to take them for you:eusa_whis

Welcome, don't let people fool you into thinking that those old tools, especially hand tools, are worth cluttering up your shop. They're just trying to make you feel better. I will take them off you hands so you have room to buy new tools. Just kidding:lol: they don't make them like they used to and that goes for just about everything. I look forward to your input in the forums and don't be afraid to post any question. The only dumb question is the one that's not asked. See you around! Dave:)

Welcome aboard Jon!

You'll get quite an education just browsing through the site and looking at the pretty pictures. But the real fun is when you jump into the water and start asking questions.

Jon, welcome to the site. I am glad you elected to join us here. I think you will find your time spent here both informative and enjoyable. I look forward to your input to the various forums as well as seeing some photos of both your projects and some of those tools you inherited.

Thanks for the welcome. As for my "shop" (my wife calls it the pout house!), it is really not worth taking a picture of! It is in my basement, which is only slightly bigger than a crackerbox! The house was built in 1937, so you can imagine how small it is.

Anyway, I make do with the space I have, but a lot of the bigger work is done in the back yard on sunny days. No real projects to show, other than a bunk bed I built for my boys a few years ago. Now THAT was fun in my limited space!

I look forward to jumping in on the discussions here.
