Hello all,
I'm new to the forum here. Been into woodworking for a short while,
and like most of you collecting/using new tools and equipment all that I can.

Questions....anyone else here using a Ryobi BT3100 tablesaw?
If so, how do you like it? Have you made any additions or changes to it?

I've been using mine since last August and it works well...but I am thinking about a change that I would do for safety/ease of use in the future. Let me hear your ideas on this...any change relating to this saw
would be helpful.

TIA,
eezlock-Charlotte

Re: new member in Charlotte

I just sold a BT3000 - nice saw, and predecessor to yours. Don't know if you have found the BT3 Central site yet. Some articles, forums, jigs etc for the BT3xxx saws. Probably get enough ideas to keep you busy!

Michael, so far it is a good saw....yesterday I was in Lowe's and looked at the Hitachi C10FL saw for $499.00 I wish I had seen it before buying this one! It is a really nice built unit for the money. Really, solidly built. It probably would be a real workhorse of a saw. I als looked at a couple of Jet saws Saturday in Belmont at Walt's woodworking shop, if I had the money.......whew! Oh well, maybe later on.

Yeah, I found their website a while back, and check with it regularly
about some things as well.It is useful for info. on adjusting small problems
with the saw, etc. I have upgraded mine in a few areas, added dual slot
miter slots on both sides of the blade, better blade, Incra miter gauge,
Craftsman extended fence with boxjoint ability, craftsman mobile base,
and so on. These little things make it better and easier to use.
later on,

If you get a chance, we would love to see some pics of some of the work that you have turned out on the Ryobi BT!

I am quite sure that you will find plenty of talented and courteous folks here at NCWW.

Have fun and post often!

Ray, mostly small projects so far. A knife display case, a couple of wood insert panels for friend'
s work truck( overhead panel with radio speakers & storage),a vegetable cutting board that fits in the sink in my house, a
adjustable crosstich frame/ support for my wife, router storage /carrycase for my Dewalt router. I made a small cabinet for a friend's laundry room,
now he wants a set of overhead storage cabinets to mount above the laundry machines...that is next. My wife wants a couple of cornise boards
made for the windows in the den. Also refinished an antique occassional
table (mahogany) that was discarded by homeowner that I picked up. A revolving top tool stand that houses my planer and bandsaw
from plans that I got in the mail( love that tool stand) from The Complete Small Shop. No pictures of anything...
Nothing big so far as yet...all other things in due time!
have fun and make sawdust

Re: new member in Charlotte

Jim,

You have the right idea... have fun and make sawdust. Be careful making things for friends and neighbors... I made a DVD case for my son and so my daughter wanted one for her house... her roommates saw it and they want cases too. It grew from a thing to hold Playstation games to orders for a half dozen more of the same.

Look at the photo albums of various members for some addditional inspriation... if the requests ever slow down. I've seen a few small projects here that I'd really like to try.

Welcome Jim. I'm just down the road from you.

I also use a BT3100 and have a few pictures in my shop gallery. While it's not on the level of alot of the saw's these guys use. I have made quite a bit of stuff with mine and had no issues at all.

I look forward to seeing some of your projects.
