New Forum Member in Charlotte

Hi All,
Just wanted to introduce myself, I live off Rama Rd in Charlotte. Of course I've learned lots from the lurking I've done prior to registering, and appreciate what I've gleaned so far. I'm a segmented bowl turner mostly, but am also diving into hand tools and tool restoration (MWTCA member) for the past year or so. I mostly gift away whatever I make.

A few things about ME:

Mid 40's married father of 3 aged 11 and younger
3rd gen bowl turner, originally from MI, moved to CLT in 1995 via Roanoke Rapids NC - Lake Gaston (Littleton area) actually.
Finishing is a necessary evil for me, and as such I'm not very good at it. I finish my bowls mostly in beeswax because it's easy.
I have a really dusty garage shop - and have been planning dust collection for too many years
I'm continuously amazed at how much metal work goes into being a woodworker.
I can't attend any local meetings or meet-ups that happen on Tuesdays.


Looking forward to interacting with the group! I'll post some pics of my work in this thread soon. Need to pull them off my phone.

I was in Myrick Estates, near the end of the road past the golf course (south shore). The corner at Three Lakes Grocery off 158. I spent a LOT of time on that lake. Mostly from the bridge to the dam, not so much west of the bridge. Many years ago, now. Lizard Creek and Pea Hill creek were where we did a lot of water skiing, and some fishing, not far from where you are I'd imagine.
