Hey all,

I hope everyone is having a good summer and staying out of this heat in NC. I was at the American Association of Woodturners this past June and had a lot of great conversations with turners about the needs for epoxy forms for woodturning projects. I am going to be designing some new reusable HDPE epoxy forms specifically for woodturning and wanted to get input from everyone here about some size ideas. I am designing these forms for anything from tall vessels to bowl blanks. Are there any particular sizes that you would like to see? I got a lot of requests for this so I wanted to ask the best people I know about it so here I am. I hope to have some new offerings this year at the Klingspor's Woodworking Extravaganza. Let me know what you think!

I have all the new pen blank molds available on both of our websites. Here is a link to those pen blanks for all who want some.

Nick, I would think some bowl blanks in the diameter ranges of say 6", 8", 10", 12", and maybe 6" to 10" tall. Vessels are going to be a tough one IMO. I don't know how easy these HDPE moulds are going to be to produce. I would think anything in the 6" dia. x 8" to 12" tall or even larger in both dimensions. I personally haven't used Resin in my turnings...yet! But I'm probably going to give it a go at some point in time.

There are pen sized casting molds available with a number of companies. Other ones that are not common would be larger molds for bowls and other vessels. Granted with casting, you don't want to cast 4" thick items due to the thermal reaction of mixed resin as it hardens but some kind of variety different from what is already on the market could be worth it.
