New Bandsaw

So far I'm very happey with this. 14" 2.5HP version. Big, big upgrade from the previous saw (3HP Rikon).

On the surface I wouldn't expect a 2.5HP or 3 HP to be much different. If they are both 14" saws, what is the difference? What for you is the upgrade?
- fit and finish of the tool?
- guides?
- blade changes?
- fence?
- Power?
- resaw ability/capability?

The other saw was 18” and was just old. The bearing guides weren’t the best, it was very noisy, took forever to spin down, resaw height was only 10”, not that I needed much more. So far I’m liking the ceramic guides.

On the + side, it was an absolute beast - way more saw than what I needed.
I got $1200 for it but he got a good deal. Carbide blade + upgraded fence. BTW I paid ~$900 for this saw 15 years ago.

I could never do this with the RIKON.
