Our new 42" flat screen TV is presently sitting on a sofa table. Suits me but not the boss. The table is 29"high which we both agree is a good height. We both want the piece to be simple. There is a air supple register in the floor and I really do not want to cover it up. This means I need an open base. We also want to leave the TV sitting open on whatever I build, no doors to enclose it. We will not be using anything but a Direct TV HD DVR with the TV so I do not need to worry about DVD, surround sound system or any of this type stuff. See I told you the sofa table is all we need, oops, all I need. About 48" wide is all the room I have.

I have 85 bf of cherry for the primary wood. This is not black cherry and I can not get anymore of what I have. Does anyone have any pictures of anything they have built or know of any plans I could find. Trying to find something that looks a little better than a case with a couple of shelves.

I confess, we bought a glass corner unit for the tv. It would not fit on our old one, and we didn't have time to build a new onel Looks great,

This is one I built. Currently has 42" flat screen, Direct TV HD DVR and DVD player, surround sound. It doesn't go to the floor and the gap can be made bigger if you prefer for the vent. The panels in the back slide out for installation and then go back in to hide the wires.

Jeremy (Woodwrangler?) just posted a thread a few days ago with pics of a bunch of tv stands he just completed. I would check out the thread/his photo gallery and look at doing some kind've variation of what he did. Maybe try the search feature too. HTH ;-)

Keye, these are two that I built for our tvs. The drawers hold our CDs. The one with the open front has a back thats painted the same color as the wall. It has a lighter look but you cann't see any wires. Both are made of white oak and white oak ply. Sorry about the pic quality.
