For those who have built a clock from scratch, do you have a good source for the various components (e.g. quartz movements, hands, face, etc.)? If so, would you mind sharing them here, along with a link if you have it. Also, if you were able to speak with a live, actual person (not a chat bot) that was helpful, would you mind sharing that also.

I'm thinking about building a mantel clock using a radio/atomic movement (no pendulum) that automatically sets the time daily, including DST twice a year. I already have the plan/idea worked out in my head, but I need the components in-hand to get the final dimensions before I commit them to paper.

Thank you!

Clockworks. I used the Hermle Westminster chime weight driven movements back in the 80s for my grandfather clocks. James helped me adjust mine via email after moving to FL and it got messed up. A couple moves later, the chime and gonging crapped out and he felt it was just too worn to stay in adjustment. I recently pulled out the mechanical movement and installed a simple quartz since only good locations for the clock are now along shared walls with the bedrooms, no desire for the chime or gong anymore. So without the sounds, a battery movement is a lot easier than pulling the weights every week for no greater benefit. If desired they do have fancy battery movements that chime and some may even drive a pendulum.

Clockparts is another I’ve run into often looking for parts.

I have bought a few movements from Clockworks.
Especially if building a larger clock, their stronger movement powered with a C cell is good.
They have a lot of different accessories.
