I am looking to purchase office space in Chapel Hill, and need a contractor to subdivide one large 12' x 18' room into two smaller rooms. Here is the scope of work as I understand it:
Build the wall floor to ceiling to divide the room into two rooms - to code
Install matching door/lever handle in the new room
Ensure lighting in both rooms with a dedicated wall switch for each - to code
Add wall plug(s) on both sides of the wall - to code
May need to rework heating and AC ductwork - not sure here
Also need to install 40" pass-thru double window with a ledge in the reception area - to code
From asking around, the contractor will need to:
1. pull a permit with the Town of Chapel Hill because when I resell it one day it will need to have been built to code.
2. Each room will need its own lighting and wall switch - right now it is one switch for the entire room of lighting.
3. Code requires wall plugs every 6-8 feet, so wall plug(s) will need to be installed on the wall on both sides.
4. The ceiling on both sides of the wall will need to be painted so it is continuous with the same color paint.
